제작의도 (Purpose of the production)

뮤지컬 도산은 일제 강점기 시절 조국의 독립과 민족을 위해 헌신하신 도산 안창호선생의 삶과 활약상을 그려낸 작품 입니다. 특히, 그의 삶 가운데에서도 미주와 상해임시정부 그리고 조선에서의 독립운동 활약상을 뮤지컬의 극적인 전개로 그려내고 있습니다.
2018년 캘리포니아주에서 11월 9일을 '도산 안창호의 날'로 제정하고, 도산 우체국, 리버사이드 도산 안창호 동상 등 이 있지만 그가 어떤 인생을 살고, 어떤인물인지를 모르는 후세들이 너무도 많습니다. 한국의 TV 쇼 프로그램에서 도산 선생의 생애와 미주에서의 발자취가 소개되고 나서야 그의 업적이 젊은 세대들에게 알려지는 계기가 되었습니다. 국가와 민족을 위해 헌신하신 도산 선생의 업적을 이 짧은 뮤지컬에 모두 담아낼 수는 없겠지만 그 분의 삶과 숭고한 정신을 후세에 알리는 귀한 일이 되기를 바라는 마음으로 이 뮤지컬을 제작하게 되었습니다.
이번 뮤지컬 도산의 재공연은 상해임시정부 수립 100주년과 광복절 74주년 기념으로 기획되어, 도산 안창호 선생이 창립하신 흥사단 미주위원부와 LA흥사단이 주최와 주관으로 LA 지역의 예술인들이 주축이 되어 새로이 만들어진 무대 예술 그룹 “시선” 이 기획을 맡았습니다.
이번 공연은 개선된 내용과 새로운 배우들의 합류, 그리고 수준 높은 음향과 조명 시설이 갖추어진 예술 공연무대에서 진행 되는 만큼 한층 수준 높아진 뮤지컬 도산을 만나보게 될 것입니다.

Musical Dosan is a story depicting the life and brilliant exploits of Dosan Ahn Chang-ho who dedicated his life to the independence of Korea and Koreans during the period of Japanese Colonialism. This musical, especially, focuses more on showing his great contributions to independent movements in the USA, the Provisional Government of Korea in Shanghai, and Joseon (the old name of Korea) by developing dramatic sketches in musical settings.
In 2018, the Government of California marked November 9th as “Dosan Ahn Chang-ho Day.” Also, there are “Dosan Ahn Chang Ho Federal Post Office” and “the statue of Ahn Chang-ho” in Riverside to commemorate Ahn and his spirit. Unfortunately, numerous young generations of Korean immigrants do not recognize Dosan well. They started to have interests in Ahn and his achievements when the famous Korean TV Show introduced the life of Dosan and his activities. It is really hard to deliver all of Dosan's illustrious achievements through this short musical. We hope that as many people as possible realize Dosan and his spirit through the Musical Dosan.
This season is planned and produced by The SeaSun Theatre Artist Group to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Provisional Government of Korea in Shanghai and the 74th anniversary of Korean Independence Day hosted and supported by Los Angeles Heung Sa Dan, established by Dosan.
